COMPETITION BACKGROUND

 

The 2023 Lingshui Marine Fishing Rows International Architectural Design Competition is sponsored by Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau of Lingshui Li Autonomous County and Lingshui Li Autonomous County Development Holding Group Co., Ltd., and undertaken by AIM International Design Competition and SMART Holiday Industry Intelligence Platform. Sincerely Global design agencies are invited to participate and imagine the song of Lingshui Danjia·Sea Nomad together.

Located in the southeast of Xincun Town in Lingshui Li Autonomous County, Xincun Port Lagoon is narrow and wide inside with good wind shelter conditions as the national central fishing port, which has unique Tanka folk culture and abundant natural tourism resources.

Located on Xincun Port Lagoon, the aquatic fishing row village has become a unique cultural landscape in Lingshui. The aquatic city of over 400 fishing rows in Xincun Port has become the best-preserved settlement of Tanka culture. The fishing rows is a type of house that combines aquaculture and daily life, where the Tanka people live self-sufficiently. It brings wealth to the Tanka community and becomes an important cultural carrier for daily life and public social interaction.

 

AIM CHALLENGE

 

Lingshui, Hainan, located at the mysterious resort latitude of 18°N, has 500 years of history and culture. The Tanka people who live here make their living and home from the sea, and are called “Sea Gypsies”. The Tanka fishing row is also an intangible cultural heritage protection project in Hainan Province.

The competition theme is “Lingshui Sea Nomadic Imagination”, and we chose the sea Tanka fishing rows of Lingshui Xincun Port around the lagoon as the carrier to explore the unique way of living in the South China Sea, experience the local culture and landscape, While responding to the government’s needs, the project also aims to improve the quality of life for the residents around the lagoon and fishing rows in Xinchun Town and to create a sustainable and diverse public space that will ultimately resonate with the local people, space, and culture.

ELIGIBILITY

 

This competition openly invites domestic and foreign architectural designers, including the functional design of fishing rows dwellings and fishing raft business forms. It is open to relevant professionals across the country, who can participate in the name of individuals or companies.

ANALOGY

 

Track A:Renovation of Fishing Row Dwellings

Upgrade and renovate the existing fishing rows dwelling on the water to improve the quality of life for the Tanka people. This includes but is not limited to upgrading the fishing rows farming space, upgrading the internal and external dwelling spaces of Tanka people, and any other redesigns that participating teams believe will improve the living conditions. Environmental protection measures, rain and sewage discharge, green low-carbon, and environmental protection and energy-saving needs should be considered. Suggestion the budget should be controlled within 30,000 RMB.

 

Track B:Overview of Public Space Creation

The creation of public spaces on existing sea fishing rows, including but not limited to B&Bs, restaurants, bars, cafes, book bars, small theaters, art galleries, leisure centers, flower shops, small cultural and creative shops, and assembly spaces. Environmental protection measures, rain and sewage discharge, green low-carbon and environmental protection, the bias is not limited to the planning of small business groups, the design of building groups, and the design of individual buildings,and energy-saving needs should be considered, as any other businesses that the participating teams think should be presented.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

Track ARenovation of Fishing Row Dwellings

  • Application form (downloaded from the official website)
  • Compulsory items

At least four A1-size (841MMx594MM) design proposals for each point, and the layout composition is not limited to horizontal or vertical. The content of the scheme includes but is not limited to the general plan, architectural plan, elevation, section, rendering and analysis diagram, illustration of design concept (need to include design description, design description should explain the design concept of the scheme, creative highlights, etc., text The materials are in word format), economic and technical indicators (need to include investment estimates), other graphic materials that can fully express the design concept and creative sketches, working photos, and other creative process materials are also required. (The final design file should be submitted in JPG format, and the precision should not be less than 300dp)

  1. The proposal text should be submitted in PDF format and PPT format, A3 size.
  2. The architectural model renderings should be submitted in 3D format.
  3. The physical model is recommended to be on a scale of 1:500.
  4. A 2-4 minute video can be submitted in any form for presenting the working idea better, including a short video with the appearance of the team members and a description of the design working idea in conjunction with the exhibition board, the format is not limited.

COPYRIGHT

 

The entries are the original works of the entrant and does not infringe any patents, copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of any other person; the works have not been publicly published in newspapers, magazines, websites, or other media, have not been patented or registered for copyright, and have not participated in other competition. The entrant guarantees that the entry will not be entered in other design competitions or transferred to other parties in the form of the same entry for life. Otherwise, the organizer will disqualify the entry, shortlist and award, withdraw the prize and award, and reserve the right to pursue legal responsibility. The intellectual property rights of the entries belong to the author who owns the copyright of the entries, but the contest organizer and the title company can exercise other copyright rights except for the author’s right of authorship, including but not limited to redesigning, using, copying, producing, and displaying the entries for free, publishing and publicity, etc. The competition organizer and the naming company have the right to display and publicize all entries. Any other units or individuals shall not transfer, copy, reproduce, disseminate, or excerpt the work in any form without authorization.
